Ten injured in serious crash on country road

A serious traffic accident occurred early on Friday morning near Wang in the district of Scheibbs in Lower Austria. A van and a station wagon collided on a country road. Ten people were injured, three of them seriously. One occupant escaped with a fright.

According to initial information, a van with six occupants collided with a station wagon containing five people. Ten of the eleven occupants were injured in the crash. It is still unclear why the accident occurred on the L6155 near Wang.

Large contingent of emergency services
A large contingent of emergency services - including five ambulances, an emergency medical team, the district operations manager and the mobile control center of emergency call 144 (LEO-Mobil) - rushed to the scene of the accident. The police and fire department were also alerted.

Three people required emergency medical assistance
The ten injured people received first aid at the scene. Three of them were so seriously injured that they required emergency medical treatment. One occupant escaped with a scare. The emergency services then transported nine people with varying degrees of injury to the hospitals in Amstetten and Scheibbs.

With the help of a fire department crane, the Florianis recovered the van and the estate car and cleaned up the scene of the accident. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
