Hitler's birthday
White flowers and Hitler salute in Braunau
They came from neighboring Bavaria and apparently wanted to celebrate Adolf Hitler's birthday. Two couples laid white flowers in front of the house where Hitler was born, one woman gave the Hitler salute and all this in front of the police.
The four German citizens, two sisters, aged 24 and 26, and their 29- and 31-year-old partners, drove to Braunau am Inn on Saturday afternoon to lay white roses on the window recesses of the house where Hitler was born - in memory of Adolf Hitler's birthday.
Quartet confessed
They posed for photos in front of the house and the 26-year-old gave a "Hitler salute". She was noticed by a police patrol and taken to the police station for questioning, where she made a full confession. As to the motive, the woman stated that she had not meant the salute seriously and had only done it as a joke. The officers found a relevant chat history with the other participants on her cell phone, in which messages and photos relating to National Socialism were sent.
Charges filed
All four are reported to the public prosecutor's office in Ried. Every year on and around April 20, there are focus campaigns to prevent crimes under the Prohibition Act. The local police pay particular attention to the house where Adolf Hitler was born in Braunau.
