On Saturday, the Israeli military issued its most detailed warning yet to the Lebanese Hezbollah. According to army spokesman Daniel Hagari, Israel is "ready to attack immediately" in the event of a provocation.

Israel will act "wherever Hezbollah is present", said Hagari, confirming Israeli attacks against the Islamist Shiite militia in Syria. A ceasefire with Hamas - negotiations are currently underway for a second ceasefire in the Gaza Strip - does not apply to Hezbollah, he explained.

3400 targets attacked in southern Lebanon
Since the beginning of the war with the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas, Israel has also reportedly attacked more than 50 Hezbollah targets in Syria and more than 3400 in southern Lebanon. The targets of the pro-Iranian Shia militia Hezbollah "throughout Syria" were "attacked from the ground and from the air", military spokesman Hagari told journalists on Saturday.

"Terrorists and commanders" killed
Since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas, there have been almost daily exchanges of fire on the Lebanese-Israeli border, mainly between the Israeli army and Hezbollah. At least 218 people have been killed in southern Lebanon since then, most of them Hezbollah fighters, according to a count by the AFP news agency. More than 200 "terrorists and commanders" have been killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon, Hagari said at the weekend.

The war was triggered on 7 October by the attack on Israel by Hamas, which is classified as a terrorist organization by the USA and the EU. According to an AFP count based on Israeli data, more than 1160 people were killed in the Hamas attacks and around 250 Israelis were taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.
