Three and a half years after restructuring proceedings were opened for two companies behind the Grieskirchen brewery, the beer producer is once again in trouble. Extremely high costs meant that the wages for the 34 employees could not be paid in January.

Energy costs have risen enormously and packaging materials have also become more expensive: all of this means that the Grieskirchen brewery is once again in difficulties. Owner Marcus Mautner Markhof confirms "liquidity problems".

As a result, the company was unable to pay wages to its 34 employees in January. Mautner Markhof says that it is in the process of solving the problem - but that this could take days or even weeks.

Slipped into insolvency in 2020 with more than eight million euros in liabilities
The brewery owner cannot rule out insolvency, but at the same time he does not think it is necessarily likely at the moment. With liabilities of more than eight million euros, the two Grieskirchen brewery companies slipped into insolvency in the fall of 2020. At that time, the beverage specialist still had 61 employees.
