Police car crashes into streetcar stop
A serious accident occurred on Thursday night when a police car was on a patrol in Vienna-Favoriten. Several people were injured in the crash, some of them seriously - including a 19-year-old passer-by.
At around 9 p.m. on Thursday, a police car, which was on a patrol, left the road in Vienna-Favoriten for reasons as yet unknown.
The patrol car collided with a VW Sharan in Knöllgasse. Due to the force of the impact, the patrol car was thrown against a streetcar stop near Davidstraße.
Four people injured
The streetcar stop and a tree were mowed down in the process. Only then did the car come to a standstill. Several people were injured in the crash, some of them seriously. According to media reports, one of them was a 19-year-old passer-by who was at the stop at the time of the accident.
After receiving initial emergency medical treatment, he was taken to the shock room of a hospital with serious injuries to his upper body by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service. The other three victims, all police officers, were also treated at the scene and then taken to nearby hospitals.
The exact cause of the accident must first be clarified by the accident command and is currently under investigation.
