Neighbors evacuated
3D printer caused an apartment fire: cat died!
Fire alarm on Friday evening in St. Johann in Tirol (Kitzbühel district)! A 3D printer that had been in operation for hours started a fire in an apartment. Neighbors heard explosive noises and noticed smoke. No people were injured, but a cat did not survive the inferno.
Two residents of an apartment building in St. Johann in Tirol noticed three explosive noises coming from an apartment on the first floor at around 8.25 pm. "The men subsequently noticed smoke coming from the affected apartment, made an emergency call and evacuated all the residents from the building," said the police. The family of the affected apartment was not present at the time of the incident.
Printer had been in operation since the morning
"The firefighters gained access to the apartment on fire, discovered pockets of embers and smoke in the area of a study and carried out the extinguishing work there," explains the executive. Based on the investigations carried out, the area where the fire broke out was narrowed down to the study, where several electronic devices were located. One 3D printer in particular was badly damaged. According to the residents of the affected apartment, the printer had been in operation since the morning.
Large contingent of emergency services
"Based on the evidence, a technical defect can be assumed as the cause of the fire," said the investigators. Fortunately, no people were injured. Unfortunately, one cat could only be rescued dead from the apartment. Around 50 firefighters with ten vehicles from the St. Johann volunteer fire department, four emergency services from the Red Cross and three police patrols were deployed.
