Pilot project in Lower Austria
How AI should find its way into school curricula
Artificial intelligence as an opportunity: however, it must be used sensibly, and media education will play an increasingly important role in this context. In order to do this, you need knowledge - the HAK in Laa an der Thaya (Lower Austria) is working on this challenge.
Artificial intelligence is on the rise. It would therefore be incomprehensible if schools in particular did not address AI. The commercial academy in Laa an der Thaya was selected as a pilot school as part of the "Artificial intelligence - an opportunity for Austria's schools" initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
Pilot project to start shortly at the school
The project will start in the coming months and will run for the entire calendar year 2024. Pupils will have the opportunity to gain experience with various types of AI learning software. The pilot project will also be scientifically monitored.
AI has already found its way into schools - and is here to stay. Just as the calculator, the computer and the Internet have come and gone. Correct integration is now a major task.

Use in lessons must be well planned
"However, AI must be used sensibly. Media education will play a major role in this," explains Director Christian Rindhauser. The technology will certainly make some things easier, but: "Nevertheless, the aim must be for school to prepare students for life in a variety of ways - professionally and socially."
