Drunk driver on the A12: four injured in an accident
A rear-end collision on the Inntal highway near Telfs (Innsbruck-Land district) caused four injuries on Wednesday evening, including two children. The cause of the accident, a 39-year-old Austrian, was drunk behind the wheel.
At around 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, the 39-year-old was driving west on the A12. In the municipality of Telfs, the man then hit a car in front of him, in which two women from the Czech Republic with two children were sitting, for as yet unexplained reasons.
Both cars swerved, the 39-year-old man's car hit the concrete median wall and then came to a standstill in the second lane, while the Czech women's car came to a halt about 500 meters away in the emergency lane.
Children in the back seat injured
While the driver (28) was uninjured, her 39-year-old co-driver and a boy and a girl in the back seat were injured. The ambulance took all three to the hospital in Hall in Tirol. The 39-year-old Austrian was also injured and taken to hospital. According to the police, an alcohol test showed that he was moderately drunk.
For the duration of the accident investigation, the A12 in the westbound direction was closed to all traffic in the affected area.
