Ten people currently infected with measles in Tyrol

So far this year, 44 cases of measles have been recorded in Tyrol. At present, ten people are still definitely or very probably infected. One infected person was in the Innsbruck shopping center.

According to the province of Tyrol, the majority of the 44 measles cases in Tyrol are already healthy and no longer contagious. There are concrete suspected cases of illness in ten people. The province also reports that one person was in the DEZ shopping center between 12.30 and 15.30 on Monday without knowing about the disease.

People who have been vaccinated twice and people who have already had measles are considered immune.

Anyone who falls ill with measles must report it. "An infection with measles viruses can lead to serious illness. Infants, pregnant women and people with a weakened immune system are particularly at risk," the province says. The most effective protection for oneself, but also for others, is an early - from the age of nine months - double measles-mumps-rubella vaccination, the so-called MMR vaccination. Vaccines are available free of charge from GPs, pediatricians and district health offices.
