Cars collided: rollover, head-on collision with a tree

Both vehicles were severely damaged.

Spectacular traffic accident on Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean Oberland: two cars collided in Obsteig (Imst district), causing both to leave the road. One car overturned and came to a standstill lying on its roof. The other car crashed head-on into a tree. Three people were injured.

The accident happened at around 9 pm. A German (53) was driving his car on the B189 Mieminger Straße. When he braked at Obsteig, a local man (42) following behind hit the German's vehicle with his car.

"This caused the 53-year-old's car to skid, it went over the edge of the road and then came to a standstill lying on its roof about ten meters off the road," reported the police.

All of the occupants were able to leave the vehicle independently.

As a result of the collision, the other driver also lost control of his car, which ultimately crashed head-on into a tree. "All occupants were able to leave the accident vehicles independently", the investigators continued.

German taken to hospital by ambulance
The 53-year-old German suffered serious injuries and was taken to Zams Hospital by ambulance after receiving first aid at the scene. The local driver and his co-driver (27) were slightly injured. They sought medical treatment on their own.

Federal highway closed
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. The B189 was closed to all traffic in the area of the accident until around 10.45 pm. In addition to the police and rescue services, the Obsteig fire department was also deployed with eleven members and three vehicles.
