Body dismembered: Mafia murder in drug bunker
Drug squad officers made a gruesome discovery in an apartment in Vienna-Ottakring. A man had been brutally murdered and the officers found a veritable battlefield.
It was actually a run-of-the-mill operation for the drug squad of the Vienna State Office of Criminal Investigation. After all, there were indications of illegal business and a search warrant - so the house was searched. But what the officers found in the apartment on the Ottakring-Hernals border at 2.45 p.m. on Wednesday was not just green grass, but a veritable battlefield.
The body of a man was lying in the shower tray in the room next to the hemp plantation. Next to him was a kind of torture chair, which would have indicated a bloody massacre.
Execution in the style of the Balkan mafia
Several parts of the victim's body are said to have been cut off, including his fingers. "This clearly indicates an execution in the style of the Balkan mafia," says an experienced investigator.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been established - nor has the background as to why the man had to die in the drug bunker in the first place. An autopsy was ordered.
Suddenly there was a lot of noise in the stairwell, many men came and threw everything out of the apartment.

The "Krone" was there the next day and asked around in the old apartment building in Sautergasse. "I've lived in this house for 15 years, but strange characters have been turning up more and more often recently. They're the kind of people you'd rather not meet," says one shocked resident.
Another neighbor says: "Suddenly there was a lot of noise in the stairwell, lots of men came and threw everything out of the apartment."
He only knew that a Pole had lived here with a woman at some point. For some time now, there has been a constant coming and going in the house. People hardly knew each other. Not even the dismembered dead man from next door.
