Complains of "smear campaign"
After Benko: Wolf also wants to testify in the U-committee
Entrepreneur Siegfried Wolf is looking forward to being invited to testify at the COFAG committee of inquiry. Because then he will have the opportunity to refute "all these absurd allegations", he explained on Thursday. With him and René Benko, the most prominent managers in the opposition's focus will testify.
Wolf also stated in a press release that neither he nor any of his companies had received "even one euro more" from COFAG than the legally defined framework. The entrepreneur sees an "intolerable smear campaign". Anyone who claims that they have benefited disproportionately from the coronavirus aid will "have to answer for it in court", says Wolf.
Wolf: Only one company received support
Only one company in his sphere of influence, namely "Fontana Golf & Restaurant", had received COFAG support. The funds were not applied for by him, but by the management responsible for this. The support received was transparently available on the Internet.
The "COFAG Committee of Inquiry" demanded by the SPÖ and FPÖ is dedicated not only to the Covid financing agency but also to alleged preferential treatment of billionaires in Austria by the governing party ÖVP. In addition to Wolf, the opposition also has entrepreneur Rene Benko in its sights.
Live broadcast interrupted
The NEOS were annoyed that the ÖVP's delaying tactics had had an effect and that it was now clear that the live broadcast ofthe upcoming investigative committees would not take place. The now agreed coordination process at specialist level will take several more weeks, criticized parliamentary group leader Yannick Shetty in a press release. He also took the Greens to task.
