Man is a sleepwalker
Italian man tried to strangle wife – acquittal!
An Italian man who tried to strangle his wife at night has been acquitted by a court in the Lombard city of Brescia. The reason: he had acted in his sleep. When he put his hands around his sleeping wife's neck, he was not aware of what he was doing, according to the expert.
The woman woke up when she felt a hand around her neck, at first she thought it was a burglar. But then she recognized her 60-year-old husband, who was "as if in a trance". The woman bit the man's finger, which woke him up.
Man jumped out of desperation from the third floor
When he realized what he had done, the man jumped out of desperation from the third floor of his apartment. He broke both his legs and spent four months in hospital.
Wife did not want to sue husband
The wife refused to take legal action against him. She also did not appear as a plaintiff in court. In court, the defendant was able to prove that he had acted in his sleep. "His brain was switched off, the man could not have known what he was doing," explained the investigating judge's expert witness in the courtroom.
