Double murder of couple
Police officer arrested in Australia
Police in Sydney arrested one of their own officers on Friday on suspicion of murdering a homosexual couple. A bullet from the police officer's service weapon was found at the scene of the crime. He is said to have been in a relationship with one of the murdered men until recently.
They were 26-year-old celebrity presenter Jesse Bair and 29-year-old flight attendant Luke Davies. The investigation was launched after bloodstained clothing belonging to the two was found in a garbage can in a Sydney suburb earlier this week. Following this discovery, Bair and Davies' apartment was searched. The police discovered "a large amount of blood", but no trace of the men.
Bodies dumped?
A bullet found in the apartment then provided the decisive clue to the suspected perpetrator. It came from the service weapon of the arrested police officer. His colleagues suspect that the couple's bodies were taken away in a van and disposed of. The vehicle is currently being forensically examined.
Personal relationship
According to Australian media, the suspect was a celebrity blogger before joining the police force. Recordings showed him with celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Ben Stiller. Until recently, the alleged perpetrator is said to have been in a relationship with Bair, which then broke up.
