After a sunny start to the new week, more dense clouds will gather from Wednesday, Geosphere Austria forecast on Sunday. The weather will then become more unsettled. However, it will remain unusually mild.

In the western half of Austria, numerous dense cloud fields will cover the sky on Monday and it will rain or snow at times in the southern congested areas in the southwest. The snow line will be between 800 and 1,200 meters above sea level. Further east, fog and high fog will initially persist over the lowlands. Away from this, friendly and mostly sunny conditions will prevail in many regions, but even here some high cloud fields will pass through and may increasingly cloud the sunshine. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from southerly directions in the mountains and on the eastern edge of the Alps, otherwise it will remain rather light, with early temperatures of minus four to plus five degrees and daytime highs of six to 16 degrees, depending on the sun and wind.

South of the main Alpine ridge, from the Silvretta to Carinthia, clouds will predominate on Tuesday and it will rain or snow at times. The snow line will be between 1000 and 1500 meters above sea level. Everywhere else, too, there will be some extensive and often dense fields of cloud across the sky from the south, although the sun will come out at times. However, it will mostly remain free of precipitation, with local showers not entirely ruled out in the east. The wind will blow weakly, in the east also moderately from east to south, with early temperatures of minus two to plus six degrees and daytime highs of eight to 16 degrees.

A low pressure system over the Mediterranean region will cause dense clouds on Wednesday. South of and along the main ridge of the Alps, there will also be a little rain in the south. The snow line will mostly be above 1200 to 1600 meters above sea level. Otherwise it will remain mostly dry, but sunny spells will be short-lived, even in the eastern half of the Alps. The wind will usually be light. Early temperatures will range from one to seven degrees, with daytime highs of eight to 16 degrees.

From Vorarlberg to Salzburg, residual clouds and patches of high fog will clear in many places during the day on Thursday and there will be at least some sunshine at times. More clouds will move through the eastern half of the country and there may also be isolated rain showers in the southeast. There will be moderate easterly winds in the western Danube region, otherwise it will often be lightly windy. Early temperatures will reach one to seven degrees, with daytime highs of nine to 15 degrees.

On Friday, dense cloud fields will often pass through and some rain will fall almost everywhere during the course of the day, with the afternoon being particularly rainy in the west and northwest. The snow line will be above 1500 meters above sea level. It will often remain lightly windy, with moderate to brisk south-easterly winds blowing from Lower Austria to northern Burgenland. Early temperatures will range between zero and nine degrees, with daytime highs between nine and 15 degrees.
