Climate activists back on the streets of Vienna
Monday morning, after a long break, the climate activists of the Last Generation were out and about again in Vienna. This time they stuck themselves in the middle of an intersection in Favoriten and once again caused chaos in the early morning traffic.
Several participants took to the streets shortly after 8 a.m. with banners ("Right to survive!") and blocked traffic to draw attention to the climate crisis.
Chained to vehicles
A little later, they also blocked traffic on the A23 by chaining themselves to several vehicles. But here, too, the glue was used again.
Police on the scene
The police were also quickly on the scene again to break up the unannounced action. Traffic had to be diverted. According to the ÖAMTC, there were four to five kilometers of traffic jams on the A23, "with an upward trend".
"Radical rethink"
The Last Generation activists are calling for a "radical rethink" on the subject of the climate crisis. For example, they are calling for a ban on fracking and a 100 km/h speed limit throughout Austria. They also want to use their new slogan "Right to survive" to draw attention to the anchoring of climate protection in the constitution.
