Currently four cases: Measles alert again in Tyrol
Another measles alert has been issued by the province of Tyrol. A person who was at the climbing center in Innsbruck on 21 February unknowingly carried the virus and was already ill at the time. The province is once again appealing to the population to get vaccinated.
"Currently, including the concrete suspected cases currently available, four people are considered to have measles and are contagious. According to the current state of knowledge, one of the currently infected persons - unaware of the disease - was in the Innsbruck climbing center and the associated bistro during the infectious period on Wednesday, February 21," it says in a press release. People who were also there between 4.30 pm and 10 pm are called upon to check their vaccination status for two measles vaccinations (can be identified in the vaccination record under MMR vaccination as MMRvaxPro or Priorix).
If necessary, the vaccination should be given as soon as possible and the state of health should be monitored.

59 cases recorded so far
"If necessary, the vaccination should be given as soon as possible and the state of health should be monitored. Persons who show signs of illness in the respiratory tract (seven to 21 days after contact, corresponding to the length of the possible incubation periods - i.e. from February 28 to March 13) should isolate themselves and first inform a doctor's office or hospital by telephone in advance."
People who have been vaccinated twice and people who have already had measles are considered immune. A total of 59 confirmed cases of measles have been recorded in Tyrol so far this year.
The vaccination can be repeated at any time.
