Two people injured
Deer swerved: Car hurled over embankment
Serious accident in Neustift near Scheibbs (Lower Austria): Because a driver had to avoid a deer on the road and made an emergency stop, a following road user crashed into her car. Due to the force of the impact, the vehicle was thrown off the road - and plunged several meters down a steep embankment!
The new week began for the fire departments in Scheibbs and neighboring Neustift with an alarm: "Rescue of people after a traffic accident on the B25!" The incident occurred when a driver coming from the direction of Gaming had to brake suddenly due to a deer.
Car almost plunged into the river
The following vehicle was unable to stop in time and crashed into the car in front. The force of the impact was so strong that the vehicle was thrown across the oncoming lane into the adjacent embankment of the Erlauf and came to a standstill about ten meters further down, just before the river.
Thanks to the quick action of the rescue services and the coordinated cooperation between the Neustift and Scheibbs fire departments, the Red Cross rescue service and the police, the driver was quickly freed from her car using a drag basket stretcher, ladder and rescue lines and brought over the embankment.
Both drivers had to be taken to hospital
First responders from the emergency services treated the occupants at the scene and then took them to hospital for further treatment. Both unroadworthy vehicles were then recovered and safely parked.
