Ex-policeman saves life of tennis opponent
Things got heated in the tennis hall where an ex-policeman (69) was having a heated match with his playing partner (76). When the older man suddenly collapsed, the retired officer reacted immediately and started resuscitation. Thanks to the quick intervention, the playing partner survived!
On Monday morning, tennis balls whizzed through the hall in Schwanenstadt. A 69-year-old ex-policeman from Oberndorf near Schwanenstadt was engaged in a heated duel with his 76-year-old opponent. Suddenly, the older man collapsed without any warning and gave no sign of life.
Reminded of training
The former uniformed man immediately remembered what he had learned in numerous first aid courses and started resuscitation immediately. A pensioner, who was also present, quickly fetched a defibrillator and set the rescue chain in motion.
Defibrillator brought back the pulse
After the retired police officer had used the defibrillator several times, the 76-year-old finally showed signs of life again. His life was saved thanks to the successful cooperation of the two quick-witted pensioners. The tennis partner was flown to hospital by emergency helicopter.
