Citizens set up two dummy radar pillars

Those responsible for a citizens' initiative in Lustenau (Vorarlberg) have resorted to unusual means: because there is massive through traffic on one of the roads through the town and the citizens feel left alone by the politicians, they have now taken action themselves.

The citizens' initiative "Lebensraum Zukunft Lustenau - Unteres Rheintal" caused a stir on Monday with a media-effective campaign: for years, local residents have been complaining about the massive transit traffic between Switzerland and Lustenau - especially on the L 203. Numerous speeding violations cause even more noise, dust and exhaust fumes.

Despite promises from politicians, nothing has happened so far. According to the citizens' initiative, a working group promised by state councillor Marco Tittler has still not produced any results after a year. It is quite clear to the citizens what is needed: stationary radar systems to put a stop to the daily speeding on the route.

Finally step on the brakes
Because they feel left alone by the politicians and no longer want to stand idly by, the citizens have now come up with something: On Monday, they set up two radar pillars - but not real ones. They are only dummies. Those responsible hope that the many car and truck drivers will finally put on the brakes. For Lustenau, one can only hope that the "fakes" will have an effect.
