The X account (formerly Twitter) of "Friends" star Matthew Perry, who died last fall, has been hacked. This was announced on Instagram by the Matthew Perry Foundation, which was set up in memory of the US-Canadian actor. "We have received reports that Matthew's official X page has been hacked and is redirecting users to an illegitimate website asking for cryptocurrency donations."
"Please do not donate on this website and do not share the fraudulent posts on social media," the foundation said. MatthewPerryFoundation.org is "the only website associated with the foundation", it said. The foundation went on to say that it wants to help other people struggling with addiction.
Perry was found dead in a hot tub in his Los Angeles home at the end of October at the age of just 54. According to the coroner's office, he had died from the effects of the anesthetic ketamine.
Prior to this, the actor had repeatedly spoken publicly about his battle with addiction to alcohol and drugs, among other things, and also wrote about it in his autobiography "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing", which was published last year.
