Death in Thailand
DJ beaten to death: “Max was an angel and there for everyone”
After the bloody death of 42-year-old DJ Max H. from Upper Austria on the Thai party island of Koh Phangan, his family and friends are in great despair. The first day of the trial is scheduled for Wednesday and the family fears a lenient sentence.
"It's so bad, I still can't believe it!" Martina Shelley is in shock. No wonder, because the previous week, on Thursday night, her brother Max H. (42) was brutally beaten to death on the Thai island of Koh Phangan.
After a party, a 37-year-old Moroccan is said to have killed the Upper Austrian with an iron bar. "But it certainly wasn't a brawl or anything like that. Max wanted to take a key to his girlfriend, left the house on the phone, then he discovered the Moroccan searching his pick-up truck. There are witnesses to that," says Shelley. She is certain that the alleged perpetrator then struck.
"The account cannot be true"
"His account that there was a fight in the house beforehand can't be true. My brother wasn't someone who was looking for a fight, he certainly didn't start a brawl. My brother was an angel who was there for everyone and helped everyone," she says.
Sister was nearby
The sister herself was nearby when her brother was beaten to death. "I went to bed earlier and was in my bungalow when Max's girlfriend called me, completely distraught," Shelley told the "Krone" newspaper.
The reason: her brother's great love had discovered the body. The suspected perpetrator was quickly identified. "The Moroccan is already on trial today. The Thai police worked quickly and accurately," says Martina Shelley.
