Ottakringer Brewery
Vinyl & Music Festival enters its eighth round
The Vinyl & Music Festival is now almost as much a part of the Ottakringer Brewery as the hop gold produced there. On March 2 and 3, the cult festival for music and record lovers will be back for its eighth edition and continues to impress with new features and exciting innovations.
Around 150 international exhibitors, record stores and dealers, hi-fi, instrument makers, jukeboxes, indie labels, poster artists, food trucks, musicians, DJs and thousands of music enthusiasts make the Ottakringer Vinyl & Music Festival the musical hub of Austria. The biggest highlights naturally include various live performances by local stars. This year, you can cheer on the reanimated 80s new wave heroes Intimspray, the up-and-coming Velvet Wasted, Starmania winner Stefan Eigner, the pop brass ensemble Brassbeat and Velvet Underground fans Die Buben im Pelz.
Get hands-on
A new highlight is the "Viennese Instruments Salon". In this setting, not only Viennese but also twenty of the most renowned Austrian and international instrument makers present their handmade masterpieces. From violins, basses and guitars to handpans, cajons and drums - on a dedicated floor, the 500 square meter Hefeboden, there is (almost) everything a musician's heart desires, including a "tryout room" where amateur and/or professional musicians can try out their own instruments. Under the motto "Meet The Makers", four experts will be on hand to provide all the information you need.
In addition to the fine live program and food trucks offering culinary delights from different areas, the heart of the event is, of course, the black gold, which can sometimes be quite colorful. Two specials for fans of the harder stuff will make collectors' hearts beat faster. Hot Shot Records recently bought up a heavy metal archive with more than 1000 records, in which many limited and colorful special pieces are waiting for buyers. More than 10,000 CDs in used but excellent condition in the fields of metal, hard rock and prog rock are also on offer.
