Bayern: What Freund says about the Eberl signing

Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund has a new strong man at his side in Max Eberl, who is above him in the hierarchy as sporting director. Freund spoke about the Eberl deal for the first time during Bayern's U19 match in the Youth League.

"I'm looking forward to it. Max has a lot of experience. He's a team player. I'm sure it will be good," Freund said on Sky. Not a trace of disappointment or bitterness!

Eberl also emphasized at his inaugural press conference: "Hierarchies don't play a role in my world. They want to "get the best out of Bayern Munich together". He alone is "not a savior", he quickly stated. "I am someone who can work very well in a team. (...) I need the expertise of the people around me." Eberl and Freund are to pull together in future and boost sporting success again. Both in the professional team and at youth level.

Bayern's U19s took a step in the right direction when they beat Feyenoord Rotterdam's U19s 3:2 in the last 16 of the Youth League - much to Freund's delight. "You can tell there's a real team on the pitch - with good energy and a lot of fun," he said.

"Good and important day for the entire campus"
"These are good and exciting guys. They're doing really well in training with the first team. That's exactly what we want - also in the future. The boys are all 17, 18 years old and obviously have to take the next step in their careers now, but they're already at a very good level," said Freund. His conclusion: "This is a very good and important day for the entire campus!"

Friday (tomorrow) will also be an important day. That's when Max Eberl starts work at Säbener Straße. With the search for a coach and the squad planning for the coming year, he has two mammoth tasks to master.
