Leaves behind 7-year-old
Cancer-stricken chart-topper Cat Janice is dead
Once in a lifetime at the top of the charts! A dream that came true for the US singer Cat Janice. A few months later, the sad news: the young mother has passed away. The proceeds from her hit, which touched millions of fans, go to her seven-year-old son.
"This morning Catherine passed peacefully from her childhood home and surrounded by her loving family into the light and love of her heavenly Creator," wrote the family of singer Cat Janice on her Instagram page.
They added: "Cat has seen her music achieve things she never expected and rests in the knowledge that she will continue to provide for her son through her music."
In early 2022, US artist Cat Janice was diagnosed with an extremely rare brain tumor and no treatment was effective. One day before her 31st birthday, she released her last single.
Legacy goes to her seven-year-old son
"Dance You Outta My Head" is a legacy to her young son. According to a report from a Washington news radio station, the idea for the song came to her when she was dancing with her seven-year-old son Loren on a sunny spring day - one of those moments she never wants to forget.
With the song, she wanted to "spread joy and fun" - exactly what she had wanted in her fight against cancer. She told the US news site "Today.com" about her motivation, saying it was about "feeling like you're in a great mood". "You're out on the town and maybe there's someone you have a crush on, but you're not thinking about it tonight, because tonight is about you."
Cat Janice's song went viral on TikTok
After the song went viral on TikTok and countless users commemorated their loved ones who had lost them to cancer, it even climbed to number 38 on the Billiboard charts - an incredible success! And financial support for her young son, who now has to make his way through life without his beloved mom.
