Lecture planned
The fight against wind turbines on the high alp continues
A citizens' initiative continues to fight against the plans for a wind farm on the Compedal-Hochalm at around 2200 meters. A lecture is now to be used to convince more skeptics and wind power advocates otherwise.
There will probably still be a lot of wind blowing over the Compedal-Hochalm in the municipality of Assling in East Tyrol before the citizens' initiative "For a Compedal without wind turbines" gives in.
Even months after the plans of Elektrowerk Assling (EWA) at around 2,200 meters above sea level became known, the barricades are still being raised. Up to seven wind turbines - the "Krone" already reported in detail - are to provide more energy for the EWA in the coming years. A question of sustainability, as the critics believe. "Electricity generated from wind power cannot be stored and is difficult to regulate. The grids are already often overloaded when too much electricity is fed in from PV systems in summer, for example," is another argument.
Our goal is to stop it. We want to give a voice to as many people as possible who are against this interference with nature

EWA boss Harald Stocker confirmed to the "Krone" at the time that the plans would not be implemented in the coming months. Instead, he said that a wind measurement would be carried out to determine the economic framework conditions.
Information event to get critics on board
The citizens' initiative continues to fight with all its might to prevent the plans and thus the construction of the plant. "Our goal is to stop it. We want to give a voice to as many people as possible who are against this encroachment on nature," says the movement.
This will be achieved with an information event including a presentation by Herbert Jungwirth. He is the nature conservation officer for the Upper Austrian branch of the Austrian Alpine Association. In addition to critics, supporters from the region have also been invited. After the presentation, a discussion will be held to generate ideas and suggestions. The event will take place on Friday, April 12, 7.30 pm in the Bärenstadl in Assling.
