Vösendorfer annoyed
Non-political Facebook presence with a “flip side”
The moderator of a private and, by his own account, completely apolitical Facebook group about Vösendorf is the mayor's press spokesman. Who had called new elections because of allegations of corruption against his people. Meanwhile, the provincial parliament is scrutinizing the municipality's cash flows.
Mayor Hannes Koza can currently do as he pleases in the town hall of Vösendorf in the district of Mödling. As reported, all ÖVP mandataries resigned following allegations of corruption against the head of the town in order to trigger early elections. All except Koza, who will remain in office at least until the ballot on May 5.
Criticism of secrecy
He is still working on major projects, as he advertises on the internet. On Facebook, for example, you can read about a project that is supposed to provide "a surprise". The Heurigen landlord is keeping a low profile when it comes to details, which is not to everyone's liking given the criticism of a lack of transparency in Vösendorf.
Visitors to the Facebook page "Mein Vösendorf" also reacted angrily. It is actually run as a private group which, according to its own information, "does not employ any party-affiliated admins". But the moderator is, of all people, the press spokesperson for the municipality. There are allegations of political influence.
Municipal supervisory authority audits instead of court of auditors
In the state parliament, the SPÖ and Neos had called for the state court of auditors to investigate the municipality of Vösendorf. The ÖVP and FPÖ prevented this and instead had the municipal supervisory authority investigate. The municipal coffers, payments to the mayor and deputy mayor as well as payments to lawyers and consultants over the last seven years are being audited.
I have nothing to hide!
Hannes Koza, Bürgermeister von Vösendorf
Koza is "happy" that the audit of his municipality has been commissioned. He also welcomes the extension of the audit period in order to ensure complete clarification in the municipality.
