Head of the Schauspielhaus Robert Pienz may return

In January, Schauspielhaus director Robert Pienz was suspended. This was due to increasing differences within the company. Pienz is now returning to the Schauspielhaus. The conditions for this: he has agreed to a new organization chart and an internal code of conduct.

The code of conduct applies to all employees and regulates, among other things, communication and interaction with one another. The director told the media that he himself was involved in drawing up the organizational chart.

Four board members of the sponsoring association were present at the key vote on Pienz's future on February 20. There it was decided to end Pienz's suspension. The artistic director may now continue in office under a two-tier (instead of the previous one-tier) management and under the agreed code of conduct. Reiner Kais will in all likelihood now be designated as commercial director, while Robert Pienz will be the artistic director.

The work overload caused by the sole management and the corona crisis have "outgrown" the artistic director, according to the sponsoring association. The contracts for the two-tier management must now be put into legal form.
