Nil-number in the Ländle
SCR Altach vs LASK LIVE from 5pm
Altach and LASK still have to wait for their first win of the spring! The duel between the two teams in the 21st round of the Bundesliga ended goalless on Sunday in front of 5032 spectators at Altach's Schnabelholz. Third-placed LASK secured their place in the champions' group one matchday before the end of the basic round, with the Vorarlberg side in tenth place eleven points ahead of bottom club Lustenau.
Altach's Joachim Standfest was the first Bundesliga coach ever to be suspended due to five yellow cards - following a rule change before this season. Roman Wallner therefore took charge on the touchline. LASK's pivot Robert Zulj was missing through suspension. Of the last ten matches played without captain Zulj, Linz had only won two before their visit to the Ländle.
In windy conditions, both teams neutralized each other in the early stages, with both sides initially lacking determination in attack. As the first half progressed, Altach took control and knocked on the Linz goal several times. A pass from Atdhe Nuhiu, who came on in place of the suspended Gustavo Santos, was miserably missed by Lukas Fadinger from close range (20'). Mike-Steven Bähre missed the target with a direct shot (26') and Paul Koller failed to score from an acute angle (35').
LASK extremely vulnerable defensively
LASK looked extremely vulnerable defensively and failed to make any impact in attack. In the first 45 minutes, Linz did not score a single goal. Coach Thomas Sageder reacted with a double substitution and brought on Valon Berisha and Lenny Pintor. The Linzers were then on a par in terms of play, but continued to wait in vain for promising opportunities.
There was only one real danger in the second half, and that was at the other end. A header from Nuhiu missed the goal by inches (70'). Philipp Ziereis missed what was probably the best chance for the disappointing Linzers with the final whistle (93'). However, his header missed the goal by around a meter. Neither team managed a single shot on goal in a match that was extremely low-scoring. At the end of the basic round, LASK will host leaders Salzburg and Altach will visit Wolfsberg.
