Celtic Warrior Dirtrun
This run will be exhausting and dirty
You shouldn't be afraid of getting dirty if you want to take part in the Celtic Warrior Dirtrun, which will take place in Donnerskirchen for the first time on March 23 after having been held in Zillingtal in previous years.
This year, the challenging obstacle run will take place on the eastern slope of the Leitha Mountains through forests, ditches, streams and across meadows, field and forest paths - supplemented by various obstacles that have to be overcome as quickly as possible. The Sonnenwaldbad Donnerskirchen is also included. What's more, the weather is unpredictable. Sunshine is just as possible on the day of the event as rain showers or even cold and snow.
Three disciplines
Depending on how athletic you are as a participant, there are three disciplines to choose from. The shortest distance is eight kilometers and is particularly suitable for beginners, explains organizer Jürgen Pfalz. In this category, participants can also be helped. The medium distance of 13 kilometers is more challenging. The "Warrior" discipline, on the other hand, is only aimed at experienced runners: it is 28 kilometers long and involves overcoming 800 meters of altitude. "The run is a challenge for both body and mind," says Pfalz. There is also a separate category for children at the sports field and pool. However, there is no timekeeping for this category.
Limited number of participants
The number of participants is limited to 340 this year and most places have already been allocated. So be quick if you still want to take part. Registration is only open until March 9. Anyone who just wants to watch the spectacle can do so free of charge. The race starts at 8.30 am. The start and finish are around the Sonnenwaldbad.
