How politicians see Salzburg’s old town
In addition to being a residential district and tourist mile, the center of Salzburg has many other functions. How city politicians want to manage the balancing act.
"Krone": Should the terminals for coaches be relocated to the outskirts of the city (for example at the trade fair)?
Florian Kreibich (ÖVP): The construction of the Messebahn in conjunction with the S-Link would make the use of the P&R area at the trade fair perfectly suitable as a coach terminal.
Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ): Yes. In combination with inexpensive public transport tickets, this would be a very sensible traffic-related measure to relieve the city center of coach traffic.
Anna Schiester (Citizens' List): Yes, coaches with day tourists belong on the outskirts of the city. From there, there should be good public transport connections to the old town. The coach terminal in Paris-Lodron-Straße should be closed immediately.
Paul Dürnberger (FPÖ): Yes, this is a sensible measure to avoid adding to the traffic problems in the city. The coach terminal in Paris-Lodron-Straße in particular should be relocated.
Lukas Rupsch (NEOS): Yes, that is why we are calling for the construction of the Messebahn to finally be tackled in order to ensure that coaches no longer travel as far as the city center in the long term.
Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus): Yes, there is no need for tens of thousands of coaches to clog up the city center every year.
Christoph Ferch (Liste Salz): I wouldn't completely give up on the idea of a bus garage in Kapuzinerberg. It would be within walking distance. If the bus can be parked in the city, the number of journeys required will be halved.
