In front of her partner
Travel blogger raped by seven men
In India, seven men raped a Spanish tourist - in the presence of her partner. The couple reported their ordeal on Instagram.
Spanish influencer Fernanda (28), who calls herself "fernanda.4ever" on Instagram, is currently traveling around the world on motorcycles with her partner Vicente (45).
As the German newspaper "Bild" reported, the two run the travel blog "vueltaalmundoenmoto" together and hundreds of thousands of people follow their stories.
In their latest video, however, the couple talk about a robbery (see post below). As they were camping in a remote location in the district of Dumka in the state of Jharkhand on March 1, several men approached the tent and initially threw stones at the couple. Then seven men attacked them and forced them to have sex.
At some point, as Fernanda describes it, they managed to escape. "Something happened to us that we wouldn't wish on anyone," they wrote on the Instagram post. "Seven men raped me, they beat us and robbed us."
"They held a knife to my throat"
Both have tears in their eyes in the video. The man shows his injuries on other recordings. "My mouth is literally destroyed", the blogger wrote. "They hit me several times with the helmet, with a stone on the head (...). They held a knife to my throat and told me they were going to kill me." Fernanda, however, was worse off.
They held a knife to my throat and told me they were going to kill me.

"We thought we were going to die"
One day after the attack, the influencer posted pictures from the hospital on her Instagram story. Several injuries to her face can be seen. She wrote: "This is what my face looks like. But that's not what hurts the most. We thought we were going to die. Thank God we are alive."
Comfort and encouragement
She receives a lot of comfort and encouragement on Instagram. "Not only is it terrible for you, it also damages the image of our nation and fuels the stereotype that women in India are not safe at all," wrote one user. "Our government will not let a single criminal go unpunished. They will soon be behind bars," the user continued. Another wrote: "A whole nation is behind you. Not all Indians are the same. This is not how we treat our guests!"
According to several local media reports, three of the suspects have now been caught. The others are being investigated at full speed.
Gang rapes are not uncommon in India
Violent crimes against women in connection with rape are not uncommon in India, and gang rapes are also reported time and again. In 2014, for example, two cousins (aged 14 and 16) were raped, murdered and then hanged from a tree. Six men were arrested as a result. In 2018, a case in which a nine-year-old girl was raped several times and then murdered made headlines.
