The journalist and former director of the Jewish Museum in Vienna, Danielle Spera, gives an insight into the current situation in Israel's war against Hamas in an interview with krone.tv: "There are still rockets being fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel. And the slogan "from the river to the sea" is a call for the destruction of Israel."

But anti-Semitic hate videos are also circulating among children and young people in Austria. Videos that are seen on TikTok and for which people celebrate each other. "Through these videos, there is a reciprocal incitement to violence. It's also up to the children's parents to put a stop to it." According to Spera, however, the key to this is often a lack of historical education among young people and adults. This is because many do not even know how the state of Israel came into being.

The issue of anti-Semitism has worsened in Austria following the Hamas attack on Israel. On October 7, not only Hamas fighters went through the hole in the border fence, but also civilians. Together they committed the massacre of the Israelis. However, anti-Semitism is not only on the rise in Germany, where young people repeatedly throw tantrums after watching hate videos, but also internationally.

According to Danielle Spera, instead of outbursts of anger, it would be more appropriate to be grateful that we are allowed to live peacefully here in Austria.
