Old constraints, new faces

The cat is largely out of the bag as to who will run with whom in Innsbruck. The "New Innsbruck" with Tursky presented a few new faces, rival Anzengruber many.

On Monday, ÖVP State Secretary Florian Tursky and his opponent Johannes Anzengruber from the same party presented the second to 20th places on the list. Together they would be a force in the municipal council; according to the "Krone" poll, they are scratching at the 30% mark. But their performance is uncertain and Mayor Georg Willi could end up being the laughing third.

Tursky wants to remain State Secretary until the election. That means a double burden of election campaigning and office in Vienna with numerous extra shifts. Is there a plan for how long he will put up with this? "I always have a plan," Tursky told the "Krone" newspaper.

"No room for political soldiers of fortune"
His list is striking: There are only four "Für-Innsbruck" campaigners among the first 15 places. But two VP party functionaries, namely Tursky's campaign manager Matthias Weger and his Vienna office manager Julian Angerer. Former city leader Christine Oppitz-Plörer is in second place, Federal Councillor Klara Neurauter is in third place and Franz Jirka, who was recently also on both lists of the Economic Association (WK) President Barbara Thaler and LR Mario Gerber, is in fourth place. "We have no room for political soldiers of fortune. These are people who know the city and some of whom have rendered outstanding services to the city for decades," emphasized Tursky. He said of his rival Anzengruber: "Every vote for him is a vote for Mayor Willi.

Anzengruber presents district team
The former ÖVP deputy mayor of Innsbruck presented a "broad and competent list of candidates from all parts of the city" yesterday. Anzengruber and Mariella Lutz (2nd place) are the only ones in the top ten who have experience in municipal councils. With his district team, Anzengruber wants to "turn the city into a service provider" and establish process thinking in the municipal council: "I don't know if that was ever there". He prefers a "district staff unit" under the mayor: it is important to know the local structures. Former top athlete Andreas Tomaselli is in third place and employee Karoline Obitzhofer is in fourth place.

How does Anzengruber envisage working together after the election? "We have good contacts in all parliamentary groups, we will hold talks with all of them." Florian Tursky also signaled a willingness to talk!
