Shock on Tuesday morning: children discovered something suspicious in a stream on their way to school in Reichraming (Upper Austria). A short time later, it turned out to be a male corpse. Everyone involved reacted quickly.

The body was lying in the water under a footbridge leading to the school in Reichraming. "Two children saw it and reported to the school caretaker that there was something in the water," reports Michael Brunthaler, commander of the Reichraming volunteer fire department. The school caretaker then set the rescue chain in motion - and the emergency services had to find out shortly afterwards: It was a male body, which was recovered with a fire boat.

Area cordoned off immediately
"We cordoned off a large area, nobody noticed anything about the other children," says Brunthaler. The two children who reported the discovery to the school caretaker were spoken to. They must not have realized that it was a dead person.

Investigation underway
The fire department's so-called SvE team is always available for such situations for "stress management after stressful situations". The identity of the deceased has not yet been fully clarified. According to information from "Krone", it is said to be a 62-year-old from Lower Austria. An autopsy has been ordered to clarify the cause of death. On Tuesday, it was initially assumed that the death was a tragic accident, but there were apparently no indications that the accident was caused by someone else.
