A regional council takes off
Viewing platform opened on Maggie’s flight meadow
"The view of the Villach region, Lake Ossiach, Lake Faak and the Karawanken mountains is simply a dream," enthused Provincial Councillor for Tourism Sebastian Schuschnig at the opening of the new viewing platform on Maggie's Flugwiese on the Ossiacherberg.
Maggie's Flying Meadow is the name given to the take-off site of Maggie Grabner's Carinthian flying school, which is located high above Lake Ossiach. The now legendary "Bergsteig 1000" trail and the ultimate "Prolitzen" trail, which is an absolute challenge for mountain bikers, pass right by. The location for the visitor platform forum is therefore ideal for the regional tourism experts Veronika Zorn-Jäger and Georg Overs, and the mayor of Treffen, Klaus Glanznig, is also delighted with the new attraction in his municipality.
"I'm happy about every visitor," says flight school boss Maggie Grabner, who is celebrating her 30th anniversary this year: "For me as a psychologist and for many others too, it's therapy to hike up through the forest and enjoy the view here."
The best thing to do is simply hike or walk up and enjoy the wonderful view. Or do it like Provincial Councillor for Tourism Sebastian Schuschnig, who promptly decided to take a tandem flight.
Tandem flights can be booked directly with Felix Reimer at the Carinthian flight school.
