The joke continues
5000 euro reward for “missing” senior citizens
Three weeks ago, a moderately tasteful carnival prank caused quite a stir in Linz. Unknown persons had offered a reward in the name of the Upper Austrian Seniors' Association for allegedly missing senior citizens. The seniors' association was not very pleased. Now the pranksters are going one better, offering a reward of 5000 euros to anyone who catches them.
Apparently they've done it again: "pranksters" have put up posters along the Donaulände offering a 5000 euro reward for anyone who provides information. Of course, the Seniors' Association was unaware of the latest vilification attack until "Krone" inquired.
The new posters were put up on the New Railway Bridge, at the Parkbad swimming pool, at the Brucknerhaus and presumably further towards the city center.
"Carnival joke of the worst kind"
In the poster text, the as yet unknown authors also make specific reference to the reaction of the Upper Austrian Seniors' Association when their first prank became known. Back then, the seniors' association had reacted in such a way that the organization spoke of a "carnival joke of the worst kind". This time, however, the Seniors' Association reacted much more calmly.
This is what the Seniors' Association says
"As no senior citizens went missing, the matter is closed for us. The Upper Austrian Seniors' Association has nothing to do with this action, but obviously someone wants to harm the Upper Austrian Seniors' Association. We call on the 'pranksters' to come to their senses and refrain from jokes that are played on the backs of senior citizens," said Franz Ebner, Managing Director of the Upper Austrian Seniors' Association.
