Nazi reactivation
Violating the Prohibition Act in the name of the Lord
A man from northern Burgenland shared and commented on posts on Facebook in which he glorified National Socialism. He is of the opinion that the term Nazi actually refers to Jesus of Nazareth. The 55-year-old was found guilty at the jury trial at Eisenstadt Regional Court.
The 55-year-old shared and commented on absurd theories on Facebook between October 2017 and November 2020. He is now sitting in Eisenstadt Regional Court, accused of glorifying and trivializing the ideology of National Socialism and Adolf Hitler in five posts. All he wanted to do was quench his thirst for knowledge on the internet. For example, where the word Nazi comes from. "It is being misused. Even the swastika is actually a peace symbol. I wanted to educate people about that."
"Chosen by God"
During his research on the internet, the North Burgenlander claims to have found out that Greek Jews coined the term Nazi around 2000 years ago. "Nazi is a derivation of Jesus of Nazareth - chosen by God," one of the postings read.
So wouldn't all Catholics be Nazis?
Just don't think about it ...
And what does he know about the SS runes that could be seen on the black uniforms of the Nazis? Like on the photo, half policeman, half Nazi henchman, which is captioned "The police, your friend and helper"? "I haven't thought about the signs yet. Because if I do, I'll probably be in court again." In any case: "I chose this image because the police nowadays sometimes act in a criminal manner and brutally beat people when they are already lying on the ground. Just like the SA used to do."
The defendant was unanimously found guilty by the jury of violating the Prohibition Act. The sentence - ten months conditional imprisonment for three years plus a fine of 4,500 euros - is not final.
