Take care on the roads
Lots of fresh snow expected: Weather warning for Tyrol
Up to 50 centimetres are expected in the upper Wipptal and the southern Stubai and Ötztal Alps. The avalanche warning level is also rising again. The state gives tips on how to behave and pleads for common sense.
Winter is returning! At least according to the forecasts from GeoSphere Austria. On Wednesday, parts of Tyrol will be under an "orange" snow warning (level three out of four). The snow line will then drop to between 900 and 700 meters by midday. The upper Wipptal valley and the southern Stubai and Ötztal Alps are particularly affected. Up to 50 centimetres of fresh snow are forecast here.
Car journeys should only be undertaken if absolutely necessary. In addition, branches may break off due to the wet, heavy snow.

In the Arlberg region, the Stanzer Tal or the upper Lechtal up to 30 centimetres. This fresh snow can also lead to problems on the roads, as Astrid Mair, Member of the Provincial Council for Safety, warns: "We must therefore once again call for caution. Weather warnings like this are issued by the province for a reason and are based on the expertise of GeoSphere Austria."
Caution is not only required on the roads
There is an increased risk of accidents on slippery roads. Vehicles should be checked for their winter suitability. "Car journeys should only be undertaken if they are absolutely necessary. In addition, branches can break off due to the wet, heavy snow," says Elmar Rizzoli, Head of the Tyrolean Center for Crisis and Disaster Management. The risk of avalanches is also increasing on the mountains.
The state recommends adjusting your speed and keeping your distance. You should also avoid parking near trees. In open terrain, exercise caution and clarify the avalanche situation before setting off on a tour.
