Danksagmüller only just fails to reach the grand final

The Austrian Ski Cross Championships took place on the Reiteralm on Tuesday. Rookie Christoph Danksagmüller (SC Salzburg) made it to the small final. But there is no time to catch his breath, as the action continues in Italy at the weekend. Adam Kappacher, meanwhile, made it through to the grand final.

"I'm already pretty physically exhausted," said ski cross racer Christoph Danksagmüller (SC Salzburg). The 21-year-old had previously achieved a strong sixth place at the Austrian Championships on the Reiteralm. "I'm really super happy with the result, even the grand final would have been possible!" But to leave a seasoned World Cup skier like Robert Winkler behind is quite an achievement.

However, Adam Kappacher from Pongau (WSV St. Johann) achieved this. However, it was only enough for fourth place and thus a medal. Meanwhile, Johannes Aujesky took the precious metal ahead of Tristan Takats and Simon Fleisch. "It's my first ever podium finish at national championships, and to be right at the top is a cool thing. It was difficult to ride because it was very bumpy, especially in the corners, but I didn't let that get in my way and was able to improve from run to run," said winner Johannes Aujesky (SC Göstling-Hochkar).

Rookie Dankgsagmüller will now move on to San Pellegrino in Italy. "There are European Cup races there. Already a tight program." The World Cup will be in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, the weekend after next.
