Accident: female drivers accuse each other

Two people were injured in a head-on collision between two cars on the B57 in Fehring (district of south-eastern Styria) on Tuesday morning. The information on the course of the accident is contradictory so far. The police investigation is ongoing.

At around 9.15 a.m., a 32-year-old female driver from the district of Südoststeiermark drove her car from the L204a (Fehring branch) onto the B57/Güssinger Straße. After she had moved into the lane in the direction of Jennersdorf, there was a sudden head-on collision with an oncoming 80-year-old female driver. She also comes from the district of Südoststeiermark and was driving her car on the B57 coming from Jennersdorf in the direction of Feldbach. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the front end as a result of the collision.
While the 32-year-old woman was treated as an outpatient at the Feldbach site of the LKH Oststeiermark with minor injuries, the 80-year-old woman was taken to the same hospital by the Red Cross with serious injuries.

Contradictory information
The reasons for the head-on collision between the two cars have not yet been fully clarified, and the two drivers are accusing each other. They accuse the other of having driven the car into the oncoming lane. Witnesses to the accident have not yet been identified. There were no indications that either driver was under the influence of alcohol. The scene of the accident had to be closed to traffic until shortly before 11 a.m. for clean-up and investigation work. A local detour was set up. In addition to police patrols from Fehring and Riegersburg, 17 emergency services from the Fehring fire department and the road maintenance department were also deployed.
