After rebuff for chalet
Porsche top manager builds semi-detached house in Kitzbühel
Because, according to the court, the "main residence" was just a trick, Porsche top manager Lutz Meschke (57) is - as reported - no longer allowed to use his chalet in Going in Tyrol. The 57-year-old has also taken a liking to Kitzbühel, where he is currently building a semi-detached house as a property developer. This was confirmed by Mayor Klaus Winkler (ÖVP) in response to a question from "Krone".
Anyone buying an apartment or house in Kitzbühel and the surrounding area must ensure that it is designated as a vacation home or register a main residence - this applies to every buyer, the law makes no exceptions here. Meschke, who holds two seats on the Executive Board of Porsche AG and Porsche SE, was aware of this and bought the luxury chalet for 1.5 million euros.
However, due to evidence that he does not live in Going and a complaint, Mayor Alexander Hochfilzer prohibited the use of the house in the previous manner. This has now also been confirmed by the Tyrolean Provincial Administrative Court.
"That is clearly fixed"
Kitzbühel also appeals to the top manager, who is considered to be "busy" in the real estate industry. He is currently building a semi-detached house in the Gamsstadt - close to the valley station. Mayor Klaus Winkler (ÖVP) confirmed this when asked by the "Krone" newspaper. "He is acting as a property developer here, we cannot prohibit him from such a project from the outset," emphasizes Winkler and adds: "However, it is clearly stipulated that the semi-detached house may only be used as a place to live. As soon as it is completed, we will take a very close look at it."
"A new regimeis needed"
Meschke is allowed to sell the semi-detached house or leave it empty - both are "legal". "But when it comes to owner-occupation, it will of course be exciting to see what new arguments are presented here. If he actually moves in himself, the game will start all over again," emphasizes Winkler.
In principle, leisure residences are "a problem in our country" - the variety of ideas on how to "trick" them is huge. "This cannot continue. We need concrete measures on what to do and how to proceed - a new regime, so to speak. We finally need the political courage to put something watertight in place here," says the mayor, not mincing his words.
