Confusion over 1st Kate appearance: Army deletes entry
An appointment with Princess Kate announced by the British army is causing confusion in the United Kingdom. On Wednesday night, the army removed a reference that the future queen would be attending rehearsals for the royal birthday parade ("Trooping the Color") on June 8. It was the first time since Kate's abdominal operation that an official date had been given for the wife of heir to the throne Prince William.
The British media reacted with corresponding excitement to the publication. The 42-year-old is currently recovering from the operation, which was carried out in mid-January. According to the palace, she will not be attending any appointments until after Easter.
Confusion surrounding first appearance
On Tuesday evening, the website where onlookers can book tickets for the event still stated Kate's official title: "Reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales". Wednesday morning, the notice was missing.
British media reported that the army had not coordinated the date with Kensington Palace, which actually announces the dates of Kate (42) and William (41). Attendance by the royals would normally only be confirmed much closer to the date.
Charles' attendance also canceled
The news agency "PA" reported, citing its own information, that the details of the event had been published due to Kate's honorary title of Colonel of the Irish Guards. The regiment is the focus of the traditional parade this year.
On the same page, the army had also mentioned that King Charles III (75) would take the official parade on June 15. This reference was also deleted overnight. Kate's father-in-law is currently being treated for an undisclosed cancer.
