Tax equalization: it pays off especially well this year
Petrol, gas, food - it's been a financially challenging year. It's high time to get some money back from the state via income tax equalization. Why it is particularly worthwhile this year to submit the so-called employee assessment.
Tax equalization for the previous year can be carried out from 1 March, by which time the required annual income statement will also be available. "Please note: It makes little sense to make a tax adjustment before this date," says tax expert Dominique Feigl from the Vienna Chamber of Labor. The reason? Employers, AMS, health insurance companies - all these bodies have to submit their reports to the tax office by February 28. Feigl: "If you apply too early, you run the risk of your data still being incomplete. This could result in the calculation not being correct."
However, if all the data is available, families, low-income earners and commuters in particular will be pleased to have a few more hundred bills in their wallets this year. The main changes at a glance:
