Vandals graffitied the party headquarters of the ÖVP and FPÖ in Innsbruck on Wednesday night. It is not the first time in recent weeks. For the Freedom Party, it is a matter of time "until people come to harm".

The ÖVP party headquarters in Innsbruck was once again targeted by vandals on Wednesday night. "Serious damage to property is not a trivial offense and we will do everything we can together with the authorities to track down the perpetrators," explains VP Tyrol regional managing director Sebastian Kolland. Graffiti is not an effective means of expressing one's opinion.

The ÖVP has thus once again become a victim of vandals within a very short space of time. At the end of February, unknown persons smeared the building and cars parked in front of it with paint. The words "Not one less" could be read on the façade at the time. At the time, a rally had taken place on the subject of feminicide. "Anyone who uses such cowardly methods instead of democratic means has no right to have their opinion heard. This completely thwarts what is in itself an important issue, namely the thematization of murders of women," adds Kolland.

The violence is still directed at things, but if the radicalization continues at this rate, it is only a matter of time before people are also attacked.

Citizens' service graffitied
The FPÖ was also targeted by vandals on Wednesday night. The citizens' office was smeared with paint. The party suspects that the perpetrators come from the "left-wing extremist scene". "The silence of the left-wing parties, who are otherwise so keen to claim tolerance, is telling and must be seen as approval," says Markus Lassenberger, Deputy Mayor in Innsbruck.

"The violence is still directed against things, but if the radicalization continues like this, it is only a matter of time before people are also attacked," fears Fabian Walch, office manager of the Freedom Party citizen service that was attacked and FPÖ municipal council candidate. In this context, he recalled the loosened wheel nuts on a party car.
