Unnoticed for 20 years
Former RAF terrorist Klette had no rental agreement
Former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette did not have a rental contract for her one-room apartment in Berlin-Kreuzberg. There was also no authorized subletting, said a spokesperson for the housing association WBM on Wednesday.
Therefore, they did not know that the wanted terrorist lived in the building in Sebastianstraße. The actual tenant of the apartment must now expect consequences, he said. The spokesperson did not give any further details, referring to data protection. The apartment was rented by a former resident. According to media reports, it is not known whether he knew of Klette's identity or where he is currently staying.
In hiding for decades
As reported , 65-year-old Klette was arrested in the apartment in Kreuzberg on February 26. She is said to have lived there for around 20 years. During the search of the council apartment, which is around 40 square meters in size, the police discovered a grenade and explosives, among other things. Officers are still on duty at the building.
Klette went into hiding together with former RAF terrorists Burkhard Garweg (55) and Ernst-Volker Staub (69) more than 30 years ago. All three were members of the so-called third generation of the left-wing extremist terrorist organization Red Army Faction, which carried out numerous attacks and killed people until 1991. In 1998, the RAF declared itself disbanded.
Accusation of attempted murder
Klette, Staub and Garweg are wanted on suspicion of involvement in terrorist attacks. Between 1999 and 2016, they are also alleged to have robbed cash transporters and supermarkets in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia in order to obtain money. They are also accused of attempted murder because shots were fired in the process.
Staub and Garweg are still wanted. In this connection, several searches have been carried out in Berlin in recent days.
