On vacation together: family found dead dad
What began as a vacation together ended in tragedy. It's hard to imagine what the farming family from Carinthia is going through. The "Krone" family wants to support them in these difficult times.
It was supposed to be a family vacation together in a Styrian thermal spa; relaxation that they wanted to treat themselves to - only since then, life for the farming family from Himmelberg has never been the same again. "The children can't sleep anymore," sobbed Sabrina F. No wonder - after her partner and father of their children (3 and 5) didn't come swimming as planned, the family found 29-year-old Christoph motionless in the hotel room: "I don't know what happened! He just wanted to lie down for a moment because he was a bit chilled," says Mrs. F., describing what was probably the worst day of her life.
Tragedy puts immense strain on half-orphans
After that, everything happened very quickly: the emergency services tried to resuscitate the father of two. To no avail. Heart failure took the volunteer firefighter out of life far too early, shortly before his 30th birthday. "I tried to take the children next door, but they kept coming into the room crying - looking for their dad," recalls the grieving Carinthian woman. The fact that they will never see their father again is a huge burden for the little ones: "With grief counseling and a child psychologist, we tried to work through everything with them." But what consolation can there be for such a loss...
When a loved one dies suddenly, the emotional pain of the bereaved is burden enough. But when financial worries are added to the mix, the burden seems overwhelming. The family ran a small farm in Himmelberg: "We couldn't even pay the electricity bills in February because the account was blocked," says the mother, who now has to look after the farm together with her mother-in-law. Not even Christoph's tractors are allowed to be moved: "We are completely dependent on the help of our neighbors and friends." Because the two were not married: "So everything falls to the estate!"
The family is now on their own: looking after the cows from suckler cow husbandry, providing for the two half-orphans, while Mrs. F., who is also a member of the volunteer fire department, works part-time in order to be able to afford to live.
Let's help the farming family
The "Krone" family can at least alleviate their financial existential fears. The association "Die Krone hilft - Kärnten" is collecting donations to help the bereaved get through the worst.
