Supervision came immediately
Diakonie: “We are shocked by these allegations”
The mood on the management floor of the "Haus für Senioren" in the Salzburg district of Aigen is currently tense. This is due to serious allegations in an anonymous letter that was recently received by the care home supervisory authority.
"Allegations not confirmed"
The supervisory authority carried out an unannounced inspection at the Diakonie facility the very next day. "The allegations were not confirmed", emphasizes its managing director Michael König to the "Krone".
The ex-employee wrote that a resident almost suffocated when he ate a sausage without dentures. The man died shortly afterwards. König counters this serious accusation: the resident was taken to hospital by an emergency doctor, returned in the evening in a stable condition and only died five days later. Christian Pewny, the FPÖ state councillor for social affairs responsible for home supervision, said: "No causal link could be established between the consumption of the sausage and the onset of death."
Personal hygiene was also guaranteed
Further allegations concern personal hygiene. Diakonie also refutes these: residents are washed regularly, their clothes are changed and bed linen is changed. "We are shocked by the letter. It's like on social media, how our home is being anonymously showered with criticism," says Michael König. We are puzzled as to what the statements in the letter are based on and who they come from. There have been no "critical staff departures" in recent times.
