Britain's Prince William is said to be quite annoyed about the fuss surrounding his wife Kate. Now he has responded to the wild conspiracy theories circulating online about the Princess of Wales' health. But he hasn't really said anything.

A spokesperson for the Prince of Wales told People magazine on Wednesday: "His focus is on his work and not on social media."

The statement came after numerous royal fans expressed their concerns about Kate online. Since her hospitalization in January, she has only been seen once in public. In a blurry photo, in which she looked completely changed and still very battered.

No details
Prince William and Kate Middleton are keen to keep their private lives as private as possible. It is therefore understandable that they do not want to comment on the rumors on social media.

Following the 42-year-old's operation, Kensington Palace issued a press statement stating that she would need to recover until after Easter. Details of the nature of her illness were not made public.

By stating that the abdominal surgery had been planned, it was apparently intended to make it clear that it was not an emergency operation. The princess wanted to maintain as much normality as possible, especially for her children. An update would only be given if there were any significant changes.

It was later clarified that it was not cancer.

No real sign of life
When Prince William then missed an important royal appointment, the funeral service for the Greek King Constantine, who had died the previous year, the worst was assumed. The palace hastened to announce that Kate is "still doing well". Otherwise, there was silence about the "personal reasons" that kept William away from the ceremony.

It seems that nothing will calm public opinion at the moment until the princess herself gives a real sign of life.

Presumably, the realization that William doesn't care about what's being said on social media won't change that either.

Calls for transparency
As the details of King Charles' cancer diagnosis, who has been undergoing treatment since February, and Kate Middleton's abdominal surgery are still unknown, calls for transparency within the royal family are increasing.

"Everyone feels unsettled by uncertainty, and there is too much uncertainty surrounding the monarchy at the moment," royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith tells People magazine.

"Queen Elizabeth used to say: 'I must be seen to be believed'. It's important for Charles and his reign that the public knows a bit more," she adds.

Princess Kate's uncle, meanwhile, has spoken cautiously about his niece's health on the British TV show "Celebrity Big Brother".

"Best treatment in the world"
An interviewer asked him on the show, which aired on Wednesday evening: "Where is Kate?" Gary Goldsmith replied that he could not say anything for reasons of etiquette. However, he assured her that he had spoken to her mother, his sister: "She's getting the best treatment in the world."

When Goldsmith's interviewer on the show emphasized that she wanted Kate to come back, he said: "She's great. She will come back, of course she will."
