Nobody injured
Industrial bakery threatened to collapse after explosion
A boiler explosion tore a huge hole in the roof of a large bakery in Hartkirchen. Parts of the building were thrown up to 50 meters, miraculously no one was injured. According to the police, the company is in serious danger of collapse following the detonation.
"Thank you, we are doing well under the circumstances. Nobody was injured." The day after the explosion at the Moser bakery in Hartkirchen, a member of the management team spoke out on Facebook. Three siblings have been running the family business in the seventh generation since 2009. However, the steadily increasing production volume had made it necessary to double the production area. For this reason, a new production hall was built in Hartkirchen exactly ten years ago, complete with a photovoltaic system.
Explosion in the cellar
This is exactly where the serious explosion occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Leaking oil is believed to have caused a boiler in the bakery's basement to detonate. Parts of the building were thrown 50 meters away and there was a large hole in the ceiling. Fortunately, the employees were evacuated a few minutes before the accident. The flying debris did not injure anyone either.
Roof should be removed
On Friday morning, fire experts and investigators from the State Office of Criminal Investigation wanted to get a clearer picture, but they didn't get very far. "The building is in serious danger of collapsing. The affected room cannot be entered for another week," confirmed a spokeswoman for the provincial police headquarters in response to an inquiry from "Krone".
The building will remain closed to police until the roof has been removed. The remaining locations (Aschach/Donau, Eferding, Feldkirchen/Donau) of the family business were operating normally on Friday.
